As the sustainability foundation of ETG, Beyond Beans is dedicated to developing and implementing projects across cocoa, coffee and cashew supply chains. Our impact-driven sustainability programmes focus on making cultivation more sustainable and climate-resilient, protecting biodiversity, and improving the livelihoods of farmers and their families.
Beyond Beans is based out of the Netherlands and has operations in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Ecuador, Cameroon, and Togo. We support more than 100,000 rural farmer households with training on agroforestry practices and regenerative agriculture, provision of seedlings, and cash premiums. Our multidisciplinary team of specialists, experts, and field staff have experience in topics such as climate-smart agroforestry, community development, and promoting gender equity.
The Job
ETG | Beyond Beans is looking for a Project Officer to provide technical expertise in agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, and tropical agriculture across the A&E team, and to lead donor engagement, grant management, and client proposal costing.
You will provide a wide range of support to Project Managers and the Programme Manager across the team – leading meetings, aligning stakeholders, building reporting frameworks and dashboards, and general administration – so that Project Managers can lead project implementation independently. You are the team’s central point of coordination with the Account Manager, M&E, and external partners, and you will also support our Carbon Insetting Specialist with administrative and coordination needs. This is a technical and coordination-focused role, not a field implementation role: implementation is led by our Project Managers in our origin countries.
Key Responsibilities
You Support
- Project Managers and the Programme Manager with meeting leadership, stakeholder alignment, and general administration across the team
- Project Managers with technical input on agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, and tropical agriculture interventions
- The Carbon Insetting Specialist with administrative and coordination needs.
You Manage
- Client Reporting
- Donor communication and relationship management, grant administration and compliance, and donor grant proposal development
- Client proposal development with the Account Manager, translating project costing and feasible KPIs into proposals and cost estimates
- Relationships with external partners and research institutions.
You Build
- Standardised reporting formats and monitoring dashboards with the M&E team
- KPI overviews and budget structures that let Project Managers work independently
- Beyond Beans’ visibility at conferences and stakeholder meetings, supporting fundraising and grant proposals.
What Success Looks Like
- Season targets, budgets, and workplans in place and owned by Project Managers, with systems that let them run independently
- Donor and client reporting delivered on time and up to standard
- Client proposals delivered jointly with the Account Manager, with credible costing, and relevant and impactful KPIs
- Standardised M&E reporting and dashboards adopted across origins.
Profile & Qualifications
Essential:
- Academic degree in agroforestry, agronomy, tropical agriculture, international development, environmental management, or a related field
- 3-5 years’ experience in programme or project management, ideally in agriculture or international development
- Demonstrable knowledge of agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, and/or tropical agriculture
- Experience managing external (donor) relationships, (grant) reporting, and compliance
- Comfortable working with budgets, Gantt-style workplans, and KPI tracking (dashboards)
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Willingness/ability to travel to West Africa.
Desirable:
- French language skills
- Experience developing client-facing proposals, including costing and margin estimates
- Experience working with M&E teams on standardised reporting or dashboards
- Experience in cocoa, coffee, or other smallholder-dominated supply chains
- Having lived or worked in West Africa.
